Branches serve as the face of the bank, offering services such as savings account management, loan applications, financial advice, and day to day cash transactions. While digital banking has surged in popularity, we believe branches remain of vital importance for customers who prefer in-person interactions, need complex financial advice, or require services not easily accessible online. Additionally, branches play a crucial role in building customer trust, supporting local communities, and providing personalised services that enhance customer relationships.

The future of branch banking is of course evolving significantly as digital technologies and changing consumer preferences reshape the financial landscape. However, we are proud to work with so many clients, particularly the Mutual Building Societies, who are investing in, and opening new, branches.

However, their function is changing, typically more focussed on savings deposits and investments rather than mortgages and being there for local businesses as a meeting place.  So instead of focusing on routine transactions, future branches may prioritise advisory services, complex financial consultations, and personalised customer interactions that require or demand a human touch.

Additionally, the role of branches in community engagement and financial education may expand, offering workshops and events to build stronger local connections. Despite the shift towards digital banking, branches will likely remain relevant, especially in regions with limited digital access or for customers who prefer face-to-face interactions for significant financial decisions. Overall, the future of branch banking will blend physical presence with digital innovation, adapting to the evolving needs of customers.

If you enjoy face to face interaction with customers, talking to real people, then there is still a long and rewarding career ahead with many of our clients.  We recruit and support from entry level roles up to leadership level.
